Shirley Tranter

I was born in California and I have lived here most of my life.  I taught high school for twenty years and then I came to work at Loma Vista.  I have been here for fifteen years.  This is the best job I have ever had.  I love it here.

I like to travel.  I have been to fifteen countries:  Mexico, Guatemala, Canada, China, Thailand, Pakistan, Syria, Israel, Jordan, Egypt, Kenya, England, France, Austria, and Italy.  I can speak a little Spanish.  I lived in Egypt for a year so I can also speak a little Arabic. When I am not traveling, I like to work in my garden.  I have many flowers, and every year I grow vegetables. Sometimes I watch TV.  I like cop shows.  I also like to listen to classical music. 

I think teaching ESL is a wonderful job.  I have met so many interesting people, many of whom have become friends.  It makes me feel good to help people speak better English and to understand a little bit about life in the United States.
