Each session will prepare your child for the digital future while enhancing problem solving, early reading and literary skills. Children are provided with their own wireless laptop to create and express what they learn at their own pace. Parents receive a password to log on at home to access tips and online activities for reinforcement! Custom software exclusively designed for young learners, adjusts to your child’s academic and technical ability levels. Learn the MS-Office suite with Office4Kids-fun, friendly, and innovative projects target a specific tool each session. Learn MS Office through fun hands-on projects! This session we will be doing TECHNOEZINE, Create your own E-Magazine/Newsletter using Microsoft Word. All students will be taught the basic commands before moving on to planning, designing, and presenting their own EZINE. The session will include topics such as: Create music/movie reviews, make your own advertisement: Choose font, color, size, style: Learn to customize shapes, text boxes, clip art or Word Art; Bookmark and make a hyperlink in a document etc. This class is a great way of becoming familiar with this popular software!

Calling all agents, calling all agents! Step into the shoes of a detective, of a spy, of a sleuth to uncover the science involved in these professions. Students will create, collect, and analyze evidence and discover what skills are necessary as a crime scene lab technician. From edible messages and decoding clues, students will have the opportunity to check out the skills that spies have in this hands-on journey into the world of espionage. Test your skills and learn how the pros do it through careful observation and techniques and build your own collection of Secret Agent tools by collecting all the take homes.

Grades 1-2 will build public speaking and leadership skills in a FUN, drama based interactive program. The children will learn to develop and organize ideas, use non-verbal communication, vocal clarity and projection, give imaginative speeches with engaging delivery, and increase their logical and critical thinking skills and more. NEW! INTRODUCTION TO THE MARTIAL ARTS of TAEKWONDO: Instructed by Master Grazier
Taekwondo is a martial art from Korea with over 2,000 years of history and is known for its spectacular kicks. Taekwondo is excellent activity for all ages and teaches the same qualities that you are teaching at home. Qualities like self control, discipline and goal setting to name a few. This program will also stress the importance of exercise. In addition discuss how to deal with bullying without resorting to fighting. White t-shirts should be worn to class, and can be worn over street clothes. Please wear lose fitting pants, such as sweat bottoms, with the white t-shirts. Uniforms are optional, since Bancroft does not have a locker room to change in after school.

Learn the basics of Robotics! This is a complete hands-on class that focuses on science, mathematics, social studies, and more! Students work in pairs and are guided each step of the way in assembling and programming their chosen robot. Icon-based programming helps students quickly and easily learn to write and download programs to their LEGO creations. The robot which remains connected to the computer at all times, helps create a clear link between the virtual and the physical world. Small group size ensures individual attention enabling children to learn fundamental concepts in a fun and friendly atmosphere.

Introduce your child to the elegant, centuries-old game of Chess! Studies have shown clear academic, social and cognitive benefits for chess-playing children; but most importantly it is fun.
