A night for parents preparing to enroll their Kindergarten children for the 2012-2013 school year has been planned at Bancroft School on Wednesday, Feb. 1, 2012 in B Pod Center beginning at 6:00 pm.

Bancroft School will begin accepting Kindergarten registrations on Tuesday, February 7, 2012 for students turning 5 years old by November 1, 2012. Registration packets will be available after January 18, 2012 in Bancroft's office.

Packets will also be on hand at the parent orientation night.

Box Tops for Education

It's that time again to bring in the Box Tops you've been collecting. Please bring your box tops either to your child's classroom or to the office by Wednesday, February 15th.

The collection box in the office labeled Box Tops is on the ledge by the front window. If Bancroft reaches or passes our PFC Budget goal of $600 in Box Tops, Mrs. Schuler has graciously agreed to have a Box Top Day Celebration for EVERY STUDENT - on Leap Day, February 29th every student will receive an extra 10 minutes of recess time.

Remember, you can earn Box Tops for Bancroft when shopping online as well using http://www.btfe.com .

Thank you for your efforts. It makes a difference. Now let us start bringing those Box Tops into school!

PARENT DONATIONS NEEDED!

The Bancroft Parent Faculty Club (PFC) is sponsoring our “80’s themed” Annual Auction/Benefit on Saturday, March 17, 2012. Our totally tubular Benefit Committee is reaching out to all of our parents for help with a tax deductible donation for use in our Online, Silent and or Live Auctions. This year, we’re looking for “Simply Irresistible” items that will make donating to our school not only easy for our parents, but will leave lucky auction winners “Dancing on the Ceiling”. Here are some examples of what our generous parent community has contributed in the past:

  • Concert or Theater Tickets
  • Bay Area pro sports tickets or packages
  • Rounds of golf
  • Autographed sports memorabilia
  • Weekend stays at a vacation home
  • A day with… (a local celebrity, sports pro, chef, etc.)
  • Airline Miles/Tickets
  • Gift Certificates (dining, home goods, movies, salons, etc.)
  • Jewelry or fun accessories
  • Fun & unique gift baskets
  • Sign-up parties (Bunko, Poker, BBQ, etc.)
  • Clothing and Apparel
  • Anything creative, fun or useful
  • Please talk to family, friends and co-workers who might be able to help contribute to our auction. We are also asking local businesses and corporations tied to our community to demonstrate their support for education in our community with donations. Please let us know of any business owners and/or executives who would be willing to lend support to our school.

If you have an item you’d like to donate to the Auction/Benefit, please complete a doner form and return it to your child’s teacher by Friday, February 3rd. For added convenience, you can donate directly online by going to besptfc.ejoinme.org/bancroft. Donor forms can be found in the school office. Donated items can be dropped off in the school office or contact Michelle Allison at m_allison99@yahoo.com or Chris Fong at cfong1017@yahoo.com to arrange for pick up at your convenience. Your generous donation will also be recognized in our auction booklet. Please feel free to contact either one of us with any questions.

With your support, the 2011 PFC Auction/Benefit will be on its way to funding new programs, equipment and tools for our school. Thank you for your consideration.

    PENNIES FOR PATIENTS

Pennies for Patients is starting up again at Bancroft Elementary. Throughout the month of January we will be collecting your spare change and dollars. Since 2004 Bancroft Bobcats have been participating in this very worthwhile cause to help raise funds for Leukemia and Lymphoma cancer research and patient services. In those years Bancroft has helped raise over $7000! We want to continue to make a difference in the lives of those who are struggling with this cancer.

Thank you for your donations and contributions.

  • Dollar A Day -- The Bancroft Way!

Due to the state's economic crisis in recent years, the state has cut District funding dramatically and the next school year will likely see similar - if not worse - reductions. Without parent and family contributions and support, these cuts would severely impact programs and instructional staff at all elementary schools. Bancroft families have responded to these severe cuts by giving generously to preserve the quality of our children's education. To protect our children from these devastating changes, parents and families are our only resource to continue funding these programs.

Each spring and fall, Bancroft Elementary holds its annual Dollar-A-Day giving campaign. This campaign raises money so that the Bancroft Parent Faculty Club (PFC) can fund Instructional Assistants that are now a part of the Bancroft family. These para-professionals, each with an average of 15 years experience, assist teachers in the classroom, which has a direct impact on our students.

While the Dollar-A-Day giving campaign is not the only fundraising event at Bancroft, it is the critical starting point that allows us to set our budget for the next school year. Without parent and family contributions, many of the teachers and students will have to suffer the full impact of the large classroom sizes - which means less individual attention, and fewer specialized programs for children who may need a little extra help with writing, reading, etc.

Your contribution to the Bancroft Dollar-A-Day campaign is 100% tax deductible and all monies contributed during our Dollar-A-Day giving campaign are used exclusively for student support at Bancroft Elementary.
