Bancroft School Vision

The Bancroft learning community offers inclusive and coordinated programs to educate the mind and encourage the heart and spirit of every individual. Bancroft implements a rigorous standards-based curriculum with research-based strategies and technologies that actively engage all students while examining, monitoring, and reporting student achievement data to target and sustain growth. Teaching, learning, friendships, and wellness are achieved in a safe, welcoming, and positive school atmosphere that promotes community involvement, personal responsibility, mutual respect, and appreciation for others.

Description

Bancroft Elementary is part of the Mt. Diablo Unified School District, and is located in Walnut Creek, California. The site houses kindergarten through fifth grade self-contained classrooms. Twenty faculty members provide instruction to the approximately 400 Bancroft Elementary students. Among its unique programs are a highly acclaimed music program, a full slate of after-school enrichment classes, a Gifted and Talented Program, a weekly Homework Club, and a Student Council-run recycling program.

Goals & Mission

1. Maintain high academic standards for all students.
2. Provide standards-based curriculum using strategies involving different learning styles and developing multiple bridges from concrete to symbolic, and to abstract learning.
3. Provide intervention for all who are academically, socially, physically and/or emotionally at risk.
4. Provide a school climate where wellness is promoted and diversity is celebrated and all students, staff, families, and members of the community feel appreciated and enjoy being at school.
5. Provide ALL staff members with opportunities and incentives to participate in meaningful staff development activities, including collaboration across and within grade levels.
6. Continue to provide computer instruction to students in the computer lab and utilize technology to support the curriculum in all classrooms.
7. Maintain a high level of communication within the school community
