Parent Faculty Club

On behalf of the Parent Faculty Club (PFC) Executive Board, I want to welcome back our returning families and extend a warm welcome to those families who are joining us for the first time. My name is Mirko Danilovic and I will be the PFC president for the 2011/2012 school year. A little bit on my background- I have been involved in PFC for the last seven years as a PE teacher in kindergarten and I also taught PEP to our 4 grade students for two years.

This year the PFC has adopted a budget of $135,000. These funds are spent on programs and support for ALL students here at Bancroft. Just a few of the things that the PFC will be funding for the 2011/2012 school year:

7 (15 hour) and 2 (10 hour) Instructional Assistant $85,000

Necessary Technology Upgrades $22,600

Classroom Material Funds and Grade-Level Supplies.$14,250

Software Upgrades/Renewals (IXL Math/RAZ Kids) $5,300

Library Upgrades $2,300

Walk Through the Revolution/California Programs $2,000

Art Appreciation Program for ALL grade levels $3,100

Garden Program Improvements $1,500

Playground Supplies and Landscaping Supplies $2,000

Other projects that we expect to complete this year:

Launch our new PFC website that will provide up-to-date information for parents to stay informed (coming soon at www.bancroftpfc.org)

Sponsor three Community Service Day projects at Bancroft Elementary School. This is put on by the City of Walnut Creek. To register or find out more go to www.walnut-creek.org (Saturday, October 1, 2011)

Explore passive fundraising/grant opportunities available

As we see more funding cuts at the State and District level as the current budget crises continues, I firmly believe that Bancroft families are up to the challenge and will continue to support the excellent programs and supports here at Bancroft. As you already know-or will soon see, Bancroft Elementary School is truly an amazing school thanks to the leadership of Mrs. Schuler, the commitment of our wonderful teachers and support staff, a community of dedicated parents and our remarkable students. Parents have consistently risen to the occasion to support our school. Many thanks to our parents that work diligently to raise funds, coordinate programs and enrich the education experience for all of our children.

Again this year we will hold our Walk-A-Thon fundraiser on October 11, 2011. Promoting the benefits of exercise, while raising funds for our school, encourages our students to live healthy. Lastly, I would like to encourage you to attend our PFC Executive Board meetings the first Monday of every month at 7:00 PM in the school library. All parents are welcome and childcare is provided.
