About CVHS
This is page that will not only tell you about
CVHS, it also shares policies that we implement
here on our campus.
Clayton Valley
High School is a 50+ year old facility which
serves grades 9 through 12. The school is in Concord but also is the high
school for the city of Clayton. If you're looking for more information or
want to preview the school's report card please choose "School Report Card"
on the menu on the right.

Clayton Valley prepares its students for the future by fostering independent, critical,

Dress Code
The MDUSD Governing Board believes that appropriate
dress and grooming contribute to a productive learning environment. The
Board expects students to give proper attention to personal cleanliness
and to wear clothes that are suitable for the school activities in which
they participate.
Students have the right to make individual choices
from a wide range of clothing and grooming styles, but they must not
present a health or safety hazard or a distraction which would interfere
with the educational process. Dress and accessories which are
disruptive and contrary to school rules regarding
drugs/alcohol/violence/harassment, and gangs is not permitted.
MDUSD Board Policy 5132.
Dress code expectations for all students:
No tube tops or strapless shirts
Tank tops are okay as long as undergarments are concealed
No backless tops
No skirts or shorts which are shorter than mid-thigh in length (i.e.arm's length)
No ribbed, thin cotton tank tops, traditionally worn as an undershirt
No sagging pants which expose underwear
No gang related apparel
No art on clothing depicting racial slurs, drugs, alcohol, tobacco or firearms
No see through or fishnet fashions
Feet must be covered at all times (shoes or sandals must be worn)
If a student is NOT appropriately dressed, the
following could take place:
The student will be required to change clothes
at school and leave the inappropriate clothing in the office until
after school. Students will be allowed to change into P.E.
clothes, la oaner t-shirt or clean clothes from the lost & found.
Student will have to wait in the office.
The parent will receive a phone call and will be asked to bring a
change of clothing to the office. Once the student has
changed, they will be allowed back to class.
Electronic
Signaling Device Policy (Cell Phones, IPhones, etc.)
The Mt. Diablo Unified School District Board of Education
believes that the personal use of electronic signaling devices during the school
day creates a distraction which interferes with the educational process. A
student who violates this policy may be prohibited from possessing a personal
electronic signaling device at school or school related events and subject to
disciplinary action including, but not limited to confiscation of the device,
suspension, or transfer to alternative programs in accordance with Board policy
and administrative rules.
MDUSD Board Policy 5131.
ALL Electronic
Signaling Devices (i.e. cell phones, IPhones,
Blackberrys, etc.) are to turned off and be out of sight
during the entire school day from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.
(1:40 on early release days).
Confiscated devices will be turned in by staff and
held in the main office. The devices will be returned by Dr.
Brockman, in her office or by a designee in Student Services, between 3:20 p.m. to 3:50 p.m. (2 p.m. on early
release Wednesdays) If parent-pickup of the device or a meeting
with Dr. Brockman is required, these can be scheduled for other times.
All devices from the same student will be counted as accumulative
violations of school and district policy.
Confiscation Consequences:
1st Time - Student
picks up device between 3:20 p.m. and 3:50 p.m. (2:00 pm on early
release Wednesdays.) from Dr. Brockman and signs a form verifying that
the device was returned to him/her.
2nd Time - A
parent/guardian of the student must present themselves in person to Dr.
Brockman and sign a form verifying that the device was returned to
him/her.
3rd Time - Student must
serve a Saturday School with Dr. Brockman and attend a meeting
with a parent/guardian and Dr. Brockman. The student and
parent/guardian must review and sign a behavior contract acknowledging
that they understand the school rules and district policy, and that the
device will not be used during school hours.
4th Time - Student will
receive a suspension. Parent/guardian must put in writing that the
student will no longer possess the device on the school grounds during
school hours.
5th or subsequent times
- Student is subject to additional suspension days and/or transfer to an
alternative program.
