Record Books Revised at MOC Trials; Grant, Girl's 1600 Relay All-Time Performers!
A picture perfect day for Track and field welcomed the Falcons at Berkeley's Edwards Stadium on Friday for the NCS Meet of Champions Trials. The top eight finishers qualified to Saturday's Finals, and a chance to advance to the CIF State Championships.
Noteable qualifiers included the Allen tandem of Ashley (02) and Lindsay (04) in the 1600m, where the elder set a new personal best of 5:03, just one second shy of the State Meet automatic qualifying standard. In spite of a less than perfect race, in which he clipped several hurdles and stumbled through the finish, Jon Grant (02) willed himself to a new school record in the 300 Hurdles. Finishing touches were put on the spectacular day by the 1600 Relay team of Glennda Bivens (02), Linae Young (04), Beth Middleton (02), and Lizz Williams (04) as they rocketed to 3:57 and a third seed going into Saturday's Finals.
