Steves, Paik Endure for 2002 King of Pain Crowns
Mitchell Steves (04) defended his 2001 title, hanging on in spite of a serious challenge from runner-up Eric Tedmus (02). Both finished the 16 x 400m endurance test nineteen seconds below their target time for the total workout; though Steves claimed the victory by virtue of more consistent splits. On the girls side, Patty Paik (03) ran away with Queen of Pain honors, amassing fifty-three seconds below her target pace. The closest challenger was Lauren Liscinski, under her own pace by thirty-five seconds.
