National Recognition for Falcons as Records Fall at Mt. SAC

Fifteen athletes rose to the level of their competition at this weekend's Mt. San Antonio College Relays, known as the event "where the world's best athletes compete". Friday evening's NIKE distance carnival featured university and international/open races, including 3000m Steeple Chase, 5000m, 10,000m, and a special world record attempt by Dena Drossen in the two-mile. At center stage however, was the high school 4 x MILE relay, where Lindsay (04) & Ashley Allen (02), Diane Dunn (04) and Erica Holland (04) showcased their national caliber depth, finishing on the heels of State Champion San Pascal.

Saturday saw more of the same as CPHS athletes churned out three more school records, and six season best times! Linae Young (04) followed her 400m Relay anchor leg with back to back sub 60 second 400m splits. The second complimented stellar legs by Glennda Bivens (02), Beth Middleton (02) and Lizz Williams (04) to drop the 1600m Relay School Record under 4:00 for the first time ever!

Matt Owen (02) capitalized on solid positioning provided by his Sprint Medley teammates Ray Cosey (03), Bobby Wiersma (03) and Jon Grant (02) to run down the field in 1:56.8 for 800m. And the boy's 1600m Relay topped things off with an inspired 3:25 effort that ranks third all-time
