Pennes SUB FIVE, 1600 Relays Rocket to Season Best Marks Under Lights at Mt. SAC Invite
Improving her second All-Time 1600m mark en-route to a 4:56.6ce finish for the full mile, Nicole Pennes (06) closed with a 72 second final lap to land runner-up honors behind Reno's Mel Lawrence in the Invitational section of the Mt. SAC relays on Saturday evening.
Other highlights included a tenth All-Time effort by the 400 Relay squad of Kim Bowen (07), Nicky Wall (07), Ashley Cheda (05) and Lianne Lum (07).
Christina Thung (05) bounded to a season best 34-8.75 in the triple jump while Taylor Strand (07) improved her discus mark to 104-2.
The spectacular meet was capped by stellar splits on both 1600 relay squads, including Lum's 60.7 anchor leg to help the girls close in on the four minute mark! On the boy's side it was a triple dose of sub 52 sprints around the oval by Jeff Rayos (05), Stanton Edwards (06) and Brian Brown (05) that smacked an exclamation point on a solid day for the Falcons.
