Martsching Tops 4-10, Finley Kicks to 8th All-Time, Boy's 400 Relay Cracks 44 Seconds
Saturday's NCS Tri-Valley Area Championships at Granada High School provided surprisingly accommodating conditions with overcast skies and minimal winds, helping several Falcons to season best performances.
Leading off the day, Lindsay Martsching (07) duplicated her mid-week breakthrough practice with a first time competition clearance of 4-10 in high jump. Paige Montalbo (07) followed with a first of her own, throwing the shot over the thirty foot barrier.
On the track, a revised 400 relay line-up of Scot VanBuskirk (07), Stanton Edwards (06), Loren Zaragoza (07) and Ray Maez (09) streaked to fifth All-Time on the CPHS record board, finishing in 43.8ce. Minutes later, Alyson Finley (08) awoke in the closing moments of the 1600m to land the final qualifying spot to next week's NCS Meet of Champions with a ten second personal best good enough for eighth All-Time.
