Strand Soars to Discus School Record! Morris Highlights Relays, Smith Anchors DMR in 4:35
Capitalizing on good conditions at the 2006 edition of the country's biggest track & field invitational, Taylor Strand (07) sent the platter over the 136 foot mark to crush the twenty-year-old school record and top both the open and seeded fields on Saturday. Strand's performance, which included four throws over 125 feet in addtion to her 136-6 best, is easily the greatest achievement by a Falcon so far this season.
Other highlights at the Mt. SAC Relays included a personal best 400m split for Susanne Morris (07) to lead the 1600 Relay, and a solid 4:35.8 anchor effort for Jeff Smith (07) in the Distance Medley Relay. Chloe Madison (07) posted a season best 2:26.4 for 800m while triple jump ace Kim Bowen (07) closed in on her own school record at 35-1.25.
Competing in the 5000m for the first time, distance specialist Andy Peabody (07) cranked out splits of 5:01 and 10:03 en route to a 15:46.8 finish.
