Peabody Hammers Out Third All-Time 3200m Performance, Crawford Dominates in Double at Annual Piedmont Festival
A 4:47 second mile at Saturday's Piedmont Distance Festival helped Andy Peabody (07) drop his personal best to 9:34.0 for 3200m as the junior bumped Falcon great David Vigil (99) from the number three spot on the school record board.
The boys' 3200m was a historic race, providing lifetime performances for Kevin Ota (07) at 9:57.6, as well as a train of five more Falcons under 10:30: Jeff Smith (06), Josh Chaidez (08), Isaac Norman (08), Sean Andersen (08) and Brian Cameron (09).
Also heating up the cool evening was Freshman Lauren Crawford (09), who followed up her blazing 5:31 heat win in the 1600m a few hours prior with a fine sub twelve minute effort for eight laps.
Highlights in the 800m included a surprising 2:11.5 from freshman Dylan Garvin (09) and a t-shirt winning 2:27.2 finish for veteran Nicky Wall (07).
