Direct Deposit
Why should I sign
up for direct deposit?
Direct deposit
is fast, convenient, and saves you time
- You don't
have to go to the office to pick up your check, then down to the
bank to wait in line to deposit your check. There is no waiting
for the check to clear before the funds are available. Payroll
wires the money to your bank or credit union so they can put the
money in your account at 12:01 a.m. on payday.
Direct deposit
is confidential and safe
- Direct deposit
is more confidential than a check; a check passes through many
more hands than an electronic transfer.
- Payments
made by direct deposit do not get lost in the mail. If a paycheck
is lost in the mail, we require a waiting period of five mail
delivery days before we can place the stop payment, and it takes
an additional two or three days for the new check to be reissued,
encoded by the county, and ready for you to pick up.
And you still get
a detailed listing of your deductions
- Payroll sends you
a payment stub that has the same information you received on your paycheck.
It will show how much was deposited into your account and how much was
taken out for taxes and other deductions.
How do I sign up?
- Direct deposit
takes two payroll cycles to set up.
- Submit the
completed form by the tenth of the month; you will receive a paycheck
in the regular way for that month. On payday of the following
month you will receive a direct deposit stub, and your money will
already be in your account!
Would you like to
sign up for direct deposit? You can print
a copy of the form
to complete and send to Payroll, or you can call Payroll at ext.
4201 and ask for a form to be sent to you.
