This 2008-2009 school year, Highlands is celebrating our continued API growth. We have analyzed our STAR data and are proud that each of our student groups including our English Learner and Special Education students have reached our 2007 growth targets. We celebrate our academic excellence and our dedicated staff!
In 2005-2006 we received an Honorable
Mention for the California's
Distinguished School Award. Only five percent of schools receive
the "Distinguished School Award" each year, so we feel
proud to be near the top of the class.

Highland's Vision Statement
Highland 's Vision Statement was written
collaboratively with parents, staff, students and the community
four years ago and we are in the process of redefining our vision and mission. We revisit this statement every year and it expresses
the core values of our school community.
“The culture of Highlands embraces
a spirit of hope and the understanding that all students can reach
their highest potential. It is a school where staff, families,
and community members work together to support student learning.
Parents are valued and active participants in their children's
education. Communication flows freely within the school community."
Highlands is a school that nurtures the whole child by seeking to provide abundant academic resources and enrichment opportunities. All children's needs are addressed on an individual basis. Students are excited about learning and are challenged with high expectations. Students leave Highlands with a thirst for knowledge and the foundation to become lifelong learners.
