There are several
ways that you can help out your school PFC Club - The PFC Club is a independent non-profit made up of neighbors, parents, teachers, businesses, donors, ect. The goal of the PFC Club is academic support, in the form of communication, no-sell fundraising, promoting our school, securing volunteering and supporting programs that enrich the academic life at Holbrook. We are currently seeking volunteers for the following areas. For all questions please e-mail Turtle Pfeiffer at pfeiffer.holbrookpfcclub@gmail.com or call him at 925-864-6403. 1. Classroom Connection Volunteer - Teachers are always in need of classroom help, some more than others. The amount of help depends on your teacher. When you sign up to help your teacher will receive your info and they will contact you regarding help. (All volunteers that help in the classroom are required to be TB tested and have a background check prior to helping) Volunteer Form - English/Spanish 2. Yearbook - The PFC Club produced its first Yearbook last year and it turned out amazing, it took a lot of time, sweat and several headaches. (Work under the direction of Yearbook Coordinator Stephanie Delanoy. Ideally our volunteers will take digital pictures at our events, (we have a PFC Club Camera) upload them on the Yearbook server, design the yearbook, order and distribute at the end of the year.) 3. Flight Plan (School Newsletter) - Produce an amazing, professional and informational newsletter that covers all things Holbrook. (Work under the direction of newsletter editor Kelly Van Boekhout. Writing articles, take pictures for articles, research stories for articles. 4. Landscaping Club - Last year the PFC Club planted the most amazing plants in the front of the school, but we get the occasional weeds. Pulling weeds and watering is the hardest part of the job (well the most time consuming). We are looking for volunteers who can pull weeds on their own time whenever it fits their schedule. (No skills required, just willing to get your hands dirty) School Site Council (SSC) - The school site council is a group of teachers, parents, that work with the principal to develop, review and evaluate school improvement programs and school budgets. Measure effectiveness of improvement strategies at the school, Seek input from school advisory committees, Reaffirm or revise school goals, Revise improvement strategies and expenditures, Recommend the approved single plan for student achievement (SPSA) to the governing board, Monitor implementation of the Single Plan for Student Achievement (SPSA). (Volunteer must be a parent/guardian, attend meetings, actively participate) English Language Advisory Committee (ELAC) - The ELAC is a committee for parents or other community members who want to advocate for English Learners. The purpose is to advise the principal, school staff and the School Site Council on programs and services for English Learners. |
