- cooperative attitude toward parent-teacher guidance
- student portfolios demonstrating progress toward California State Standards
- participation in mandatory conferences with teacher-advisor twice a month

MOUNT DIABLO UNIFIED SCHOOL DISTRICT PROVIDES:
- guidance by credentialed teachers
- specific objectives appropriate to individual student levels
- texts, supplies, and materials
- seminars designed to facilitate the teaching-learning experience
- the opportunity for annual, objective evaluations
- on-going cooperative assessment
- a legal means for parents to home school their children

HORIZONS PARENTS PROVIDE:
- enhanced learning environment
- commitment to a semester master agreement
- direct instruction and supervision of student learning
- written plans of assignments and projects reflecting the California State Standards
- suitable setting for mandatory conferences with advisor twice a month
- participation in teaching-learning seminars
- semester evaluation of student

There is no cost for participation in the Horizons Home Independent Study program. It is funded through the Mt. Diablo Unified School District.
