About Us
Meadow Homes Elementary is located in the Monument Corridor of Concord. The population of the school is approximately 940 students. Our student body is a rich mixture of ethnic groups. Nineteen cultures are represented here at Meadow Homes. We are proud of our diversity; it brings a complexity of languages, cultures and traditions and broadens our awareness and appreciation for others.
Our vision at Meadow Homes is a safe place where children and adults enjoy a love of learning. Our focus is on appreciating the diverse cultures, languages, and heritages that make up our school population. The Meadow Homes community is dedicated to building a strong academic foundation, nurturing feelings of self-esteem, supporting family involvement, and fostering a respect for oneself and each other.
Our academic curriculum is based on the state and district content standards. The staff works diligently to help all students meet grade level standards and to achieve excellence in all subject areas. We offer three different language programs that are designed to meet the needs of all of our students: Dual Immersion, Bilingual Education and English.
The Dual Immersion program of Meadow Homes began in 2002-03. Dual Immersion classes accommodate both Spanish and English speaking students. The goal is for the students to become bilingual and biliterate.
Our staff is highly trained and very dedicated. Many of our teachers are fluent Spanish speakers.
Meadow Homes offers an After School Program in which children are provided with academic support, recreation, nutrition and fitness opportunities and enrichment programs. The program is a partnership staffed by Meadow Homes' teachers and recreation specialists from the City of Concord.
Regular communication with parents and parent involvement are the keys to children's success in school. Therefore, we have a number of ways to communicate with parents and for them to participate in the school. Our English Learner Advisory Committee (ELAC) meets monthly as does our School Site Council. Every Friday morning, Platicas, a parent group, meets to share information, resources and experiences. Parent Newsletters are published monthly and teachers send home newsletters on a regular basis. Monthly Family Nights highlighting a variety of subject areas are provided. Parents are welcome to volunteer in classrooms and to support in a variety of ways. We welcome parent participation!
Meadow Homes Elementary is a unique school comprised of very committed professionals who are dedicated to the academic progress of our students. Our students, parents and support staff are all key members of the Meadow Homes Elementary School Community. Together, all stake holders of our school make Meadow Homes Elementary School a wonderful place to learn.
