Mr. Wright's
Class Policy/Syllabus
Attendance Policy
Daily Attendance is essential to your successful
completion of this course. Any Absence uncleared after 72 hours will be
considered unexcused. No accommodations will be made for unexcused
absences. Students who anticipate lengthy absences should follow
established school policies to complete class work assigned during period
of absence. In cases where failure to attend class is a chronic and
serious problem, students should expect to see a significant effect upon
their class grade.
Behavioral Expectations
You are expected to behave maturely and responsibly. Extremely
and/or chronically disruptive behavior will result in behavior contracts
and ultimately, your expulsion from the class. No eating in class.
Class Transfer Policy
Science Departmant policy does not allow for dropping or
adding any science course after the 3rd week of the school year.
Transfer between science classes at the end of 1st semester is
not an option.
Extra Credit
Formal opportunities for extra credit are limited to once
per semester. Additional extra credit is at the discretion of the instructor.
Extra credit is not intended to provide a last ditch effort for re-couping
a grade.
Grading Policy
Grades are earned on a point basis as shown below.
Reasonable allowance may be made, soley at the instructor's discretion,
for sincere and good-faith efforts that show a student's willingness to
learn. Exams and tests will account for apporx. 80% of the course grade,
with homework, and projects constituting the other 20%. Semester grades
are cumulative.
A 100-90% B 89-80%
C 79-70% D 69-60% F < 60%
Homework
Homework will be assigned regularly and will be due the
following day unless otherwise noted. Students must attempt all problems
and do their own work in order to receive credit.
Make-up Policy
Students should make every effort to hand in classwork on
time and to be present for scheduled tests. Make-up classwork should be
completed and handed in no later than the second day following an excused
absence. No make-up tests or quizzes will be given. A
quarterfinal exam given at the ed of the first and third quarters will
allow students to make up for one missed test. For students missing
test during the second and fourth quarters, the semester exam percentage
may be substituted for one missed test. Additional missed tests can
be made up solely at the discretion of the instructor.
Portfolio
All tests, homework assignments, labs, and projects return
to students should be place in a large notebook binder and kept until the
end of the semester.
Tardy Policy
Prompt arrival to class is extremely important. Any
student who receives two or more tardies per week may be assigned to
Saturday school.
