“DIS” is an IEP term that stands for “Designated Instruction
& Services.” DIS-Services at Alliance can be delivered by various professionals
which include the School Psychologist, a Psychologist Intern, Mental Health
Counselors, Social Workers and/or the Speech Pathologist. DIS-Services are
always indicated on page one of your son or daughter’s IEP.
Unless otherwise specified, every student at Alliance is recommended for DIS-10
services. These services are provided by the School Psychologist or the
Psychologist Intern and include, but are not limited to:
Individual counseling (scheduled & unscheduled)
Group counseling
Conflict resolution (with peers and/or staff)
Conferences (student with teacher and/or assistant)
Conferences & consultations with parents (office or phone)
Family counseling
Consultation with teachers or other school staff
Classroom & campus observations
Review of records
Transition planning
Development of counseling goals & behavior support plans
Consultation with other professionals in the community or at the school
DIS-Services at Alliance might also include counseling and case management from
the Fred Finch Program counselors and social workers who collaborate at the
school to provide mental health services to our students & their families.
