PTA Student Programs

Assemblies – Throughout the year, PHE PTA selects a diverse group of professionals to visit the school and share their talents with our students.

Fine Arts Mini-Experience – The F.A.M.E. program brings art and music history and appreciation directly to kids. Parent volunteers deliver six lively, interactive presentations to each classroom over the year. Each presentation pairs a different artist, painting, composer and musical piece along with a related art activity. A long-standing PTA program, F.A.M.E. is very popular with the students... and they really learn!

Science Night -- PHE’s annual Science Night features exciting and educational science demonstrations brought to us by local teachers, science professionals and community health, science and wildlife organizations. The students’ own science fair projects are also displayed and judged at Science Night. Science Night generally takes place in February.

Reflections – This national PTA arts program invites students to create and submit entries in the categories of artwork, photography, writing, and musical composition. PHE student finalists go on to compete at regional and state levels. All PHE students who enter receive a certificate and finalists’ works are put on display at a Reflections Showcase in the multi-use room in the spring.

Art in the School – PTA volunteers at PHE selects and displays classroom artwork on a rotating basis throughout the school.

Library Programs -- PTA coordinates library volunteers for each classroom to help students compare and select books for checkout. Volunteers also manage the school’s highly-successful PHE Reading Club which encourages and rewards students for reading accomplishment.

Fifth Grade Outdoor Education Camperships – PTA provides funds to help offset the cost of attending the fifth grade Outdoor Education program for students of low-income families at PHE.

Visiting Authors – PTA brings books alive with our visiting author program. Age-appropriate authors and illustrators talk to the students about writing, illustrating, and where they come up with those great ideas for stories.

Bookworm Pajama Party – Students and their families get cozy in the library and enjoy an evening of storytelling and reading... and don't forget the hot chocolate!
