Volunteering at PHE

Volunteering at Pleasant Hill Elementary is a tradition that is alive and well!

IMPORTANT! New District policy stipulates that ALL people interested in being a volunteer must have fingerprints taken and a current TB test in order on file at the district in order to volunteer in any capacity with students at PHE. This includes field trips and volunteering in the classroom.

To make an appointment for fingerprinting:

  • Call Denise Briscoe at 682-8000, ext. 4153 (she suggests not leaving a voicemail message but calling back until you reach her directly)
  • You must bring a valid copy of your TB test that is no more than 60 days old
  • Bring the MDUSD Fingerprinting Form in English or in Spanish with you
  • They are currently booking dates starting the end of October so plan accordingly
  • The cost for fingerprints is $32, cash only

There is always room for more parent volunteers. Look below for the many different ways you can volunteer at PHE:

Classroom Support

From photocopying to helping gradiing papers to assisting children with class work, there are many opportunities to help. Check with your teacher to see what he or she needs for individual classroom support.

FAME

The F.A.M.E. program brings art and music history and appreciation directly to kids. Parent volunteers deliver six lively, interactive presentations to each classroom over the year. Each presentation pairs a different artist, painting, composer and musical piece along with a related art activity. A long-standing program, F.A.M.E. is very popular with the students... and they really learn! For more info on volunteering for FAME please contact pherocks@gmail.com

Library

Library volunteers read to students or help them find the right book. They also help sort, and shelve books and check out books for students. For more info on volunteering in the Library, please contact nivenp@mdusd.k12.ca.us

PTA Board and Chairpeople

The PTA is an integral part of school life at PHE. It sponsors and coordinates a wide range of programs and events to enrich the lives and education of our children. No expereince is necessary to serve on the Executive Board - just a willingness to be involved. Chairpeople are also necessary to help facilitate the different programs and events that occur throughout the school year. For more info on volunteering on the PTA Board, please click here

PHEEF

The Pleasant Hill Elementary Education Foundation is a non-profit organization dedicated to maintaining the high quality of education at Pleasant Hill Elementary. The Foundation is separate from the PTA, but works closely with the PTA and the school to help keep PHE a great place to go to school. For more info on volunteering with the PHEEF visit our website or email us with questions.

Playground Partners

Playground Partners are parents volunteers who, once a month, volunteer their time supervising student during lunch breaks and then during the recess tme ion the playground. Turn a rope, help with a chalk drawing ... letting kids know that there is an adult who is around to help during these transition times makes a big difference. For more infomation, click here. To become a Playground Partner, please contact heltonl@mdusd.k12.ca.us
