Mrs. Hodes'
Kindergarten Class

B-2 News for March 8, 2013
Schedule Reminder and Drop-off/Pick-up Procedure: Once again, the correct arrival and departure times are:
Early Group: 8:10 a.m.- 12:00 p.m.
Late Group: 9:55 a.m. - 1:45 a.m.
“Early” students enter through the front door. Those arriving early should wait quietly outside the classroom. “Late” students should come to the Kindergarten playground between 9:45 and 9:55 (no sooner) and line up outside the back door ready for their school day to start. Both early and late students are dismissed through the back door into the Kindergarten playground (however, on rainy days we will exit through the front door). The other Kindergarten teachers wanted me to remind you that there is no playing on the “Kindergarten Playground” either before or after school. The rest of the school is still in session.
Walking Across the Parking Lot: There is a school safety policy that students are not to walk across the parking lot in front of the school. Students are to walk on the sidewalk that circles the lot on each end to get to and from the street. Please cooperate with this policy to help ensure their safety.
Lunches: I encourage you to send nutritious lunches. You may also purchase a lunch for your child for the year or for shorter periods. You may also pay by the day. I do request that in Kindergarten you do not send money to school either as a check or cash. Please pay the office in advance for your child’s lunches. I cannot be responsible for lost checks or money. Thank you in advance for you support in this area.
Contacting Me: If you have concerns or information for me about your child, you can contact me by a written note or e-mail ( If you wish to speak with me, you may call before school. You can reach me in the classroom. I am here by 7:30 most school days and I am freshest in the morning. You may send notes and ask your child to leave them in my “in” basket so they don’t get lost. You may also leave messages on my school phone at (687-1700). I will always try to get back to you as quickly as possible. Please respect that it is usually not possible for me to stop and talk with you during the hours that I am teaching. We can also talk briefly at “drop off” or “pick-up” after all students have been safely accounted for. I will be on campus until 2:30 when I take my lunch. Any questions are good questions. Please be looking for the e-mail sheets posted on the front and back doors so our communication can be further enhanced.
Parents on Campus: In the interest of campus security, please stop in the office to sign in and pick up a visitor badge prior to volunteer work in the classroom, library or Thor Hall for P.E. No person should be walking through the campus without a badge. An exception is made for Kindergarten parents who are picking up students, since our classrooms are located at the front of the school. Thank you!
Fingerprinting: To join us on a field trip or help in our classroom in any way you must be fingerprinted and have a TB test (within 60 days of your appointment). There is a $32 fingerprinting charge and no personal checks are accepted. The district does not recognize fingerprinting by any other organization (baseball, other employers etc.) The appointments are held at the Mt. Diablo Unified School District Personnel Office. These appointments book fast so call today (925) 682-8000 extension 4153. If you don’t already have one please ask me (or the school office) for a form and schedule your appointment ASAP.
