E-2 Classroom News - May 10, 2013

Dear Parents,

I am simply overwhelmed with the flowers, cards, food, treats, school supplies, and gifts that have flooded my classroom this week. I feel truly appreciated. Thank you. I am constantly thankful and filled with gratitude to be fortunate enough to teach your children here at Valhalla. A big thank you to Mrs. Higgins. This morning, she cut up all of the fruit in my fruit basket, some additional fruit I brought in to share with the children, and made a giant fruit salad. We topped it with some whip cream and enjoyed it together. It was delicious. Thanks again for making Teacher Appreciation Week absolutely amazing for me.

Here are some highlights for next week:
Smith Family Farm Spring Field Trip Monday, May 13:
*Students and Chaparones should arrive at the normal school start time.
*We will board the bus at 8:30 a.m. and return to school at 1:00 p.m. (Dismissal: 2:45 p.m.)
*Children should dress in "play clothes" (long pants preferred) and close-toed shoes
(example: tennis shoes; no sandals). Please take the weather into consideration and
dress accordingly.
*Bring bag lunches (no lunchboxes). If you paid for a bag lunch for this field trip, I will pick it
up for you before school and take it to the classroom.

It's a Review Week. There are no spelling words, high-frequency word cards, or little readers in the homework packet. Please practice the high-frequency words learned so far and read books of your choice.

We will be completing Math Chapter 20: Pennies, Nickels, Dimes and taking the Chapter Tests early next week. We will begin Math Chapter 21: Quarters. Please practice identifying coins, naming the value, counting coins, and making different combinations of coins for the same value (for example: 3 ways to make 25 cents).
Please practice the Addition and Subtraction Math Facts for 13. Final timed test on Wednesday, May 15

.Have a wonderful Mother's Day this Sunday!

Mrs. Kresley
