VPFA Update

Valhalla’s Volunteer of the week: Rebecca Seidenspinner. Rebecca put together a fantastic Muffin Morning last week. It was a packed house and everyone had a wonderful time.

Don’t forget about the Open House and Ice Cream Social on Wednesday, May 22nd. Come by Thor Hall for a root beer float or ice cream sundae, for just $3 each. Then head over to your child’s classroom and check out all the cool stuff they have been working hard on this school year.

Our Used Book Fair is just around the corner: Thursday, May 30th, and Friday, May 31st. If you have any used children’s and/or adult’s books, as well as board games, video and computer games and DVDs that you would like to donate, please feel free to drop them off in the parent center any time.

This year has flown by and we are trying to tie up all loose ends. If you have any outstanding check requests for reimbursements, please be sure to turn them into the VPFA Treasurer’s box in the office no later than Friday, May 31st.

Stay up to date with all that is going on at Valhalla with our website and the Valhalla Elementary School Parents Facebook page.

Have a great weekend!

Help Valhalla earn money by shopping
with Scrip gift cards!

Only one more chance to order Scrip before summer is here, and help Valhalla earn money by shopping with Scrip gift cards!

You can order Scrip two ways:
1) Fill out a form and return it to the office with a check made payable to VPFA. If you need a form, you can get one in the office or go to the Valhalla Website and download one from the After School Enrichment and Community Activities page.
2) Log onto www.ShopWithScrip.com and place your order online. On their website is a list of all the retailers that have Scrip available for purchase. Sign up for Presto Pay and you won't ever have to write a check again.
3) There is also a supply of cards in the office for sale anytime. Stop by before your next shopping trip to pick some up.

Any questions, please contact Laura Bastin at Laurambastin@yahoo.com or 925-989-1232.

Box Tops for Education

Congratulations to Mrs. McKinley's class! Their families contributed the most Box Tops for a class during the month of April, and will receive a “thank-you” treat for their efforts.

5th Graders Briana and Bridget contributed the most Box Tops…..321! Thank you to everyone for continuing to keep an eye out for the logo before recycling packages.  Keep it up over the summer too, and help Valhalla raise even more money for next year.

Is there a parent who would be available next year to go to a classroom once a month to hand out a Box Top certificate to the student who turns in the most in a given month?  It would only take a few minutes.  Also, most months a class earns recognition for having the most kids who donated in that month.  This parent would also make arrangements with the teacher to pass out a treat.  If you can help in these ways, please contact me at jajourdain@aol.com.  Thank you.

Jennifer Jourdain, Box Tops Coordinator

ATTENTION 4th Grade Parents!

Use Scrip and e-Scrip to help pay for 5th Grade Outdoor Ed.

All of your earnings from e-Scrip and Scrip (gift cards) purchases from January 2013 through September 2013 are put towards the cost of Outdoor Ed.

If you haven’t already enrolled in e-Scrip, please do so today. Enroll at www.escrip.com and enter our school ID #136588781. Register your Safeway Club card, and Safeway will donate a percentage of your purchase to Valhalla that will go towards Outdoor Ed. You can also register your debit and credit cards with e-Scrip, and will earn a percentage of your purchases at participating locations. Check www.escrip.com for a complete list of participating merchants.

Scrip (gift cards) is another great way to earn money for Outdoor Ed. The VPFA sells gift cards in the office.  So before you go out for you next shopping trip, make sure to stop and buy some Scrip. For a wider selection of Scrip go to www.ShopWithScrip.com and order your gift cards at your convenience. Your ShopWithScrip enrollment code is C6AE5D8A1282L.
